Take The Pledge!

Homelessness and poverty. These two words represent a complex web of issues—individual, societal, racial, governmental—that result in a number of sobering statistics. In the most recent point-in-time study conducted by Metro Denver Homeless Initiative 11, 377 people were found to be homeless in Denver. Of this number, 45.4% were women and 62% were adults living in households with children.

None of us can untangle this web alone. But together, we can make a difference. Join us in our pledge to end homelessness by choosing from the options below and virtually signing your name to the form.

Awareness

I pledge to recognize and accept that homelessness is an issue in my city.

I pledge to not look away from individuals living on our streets and to acknowledge that they, too, are people with meaningful lives, people with both a past that brought them to this place and a future to move beyond it.

Education

I pledge to learn more about the issues that contribute to homelessness in my state.

I pledge to learn more about affordable housing and ways to increase access to it.

I pledge to learn more about living wages and income disparity and how these concepts contribute to homelessness and poverty in my city.

I pledge to share my knowledge about the issues that contribute to homelessness and poverty with others: my neighbors, faith group, colleagues, classmates, association members, and/or friends.

Action

I pledge make a tangible difference in the life of at least one homeless or impoverished individual this month.

I pledge to become a volunteer at The Gathering Place to serve women and children in Denver who are experiencing homelessness or poverty.

I pledge to organize a food or toiletry drive for Betsy’s Cupboard.

I pledge to become a voice for the homeless through my political decisions and actions.
