For the past year, we have experienced several challenges and delays in mail delivery. We are working with the post office on resolving the problems going forward and one piece of the solution was to establish a post office box address to ensure that your donations (checks and Share the Joy gift cards) get to us as quickly as possible.

If you have sent us a check recently and have not received a thank you letter from us, please contact Melanie Durham at 303-996-9067 or We can then check on the status of your gift and ensure proper stewardship of funds.

You can now send mail to us at:

The Gathering Place

P.O. Box 181325

Denver, CO 80218

Thank you for all of your support!

The Gathering Place serves about 9,000 individuals per year and about half of them consider themselves to be homeless. The other half are housed, but living in poverty and in need of assistance to make ends meet.

To better understand homelessness in our community, the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative conducts an annual Point-in-Time survey (in conjunction with local service providers, including The Gathering Place), which generates an estimate of the number of individuals who are experiencing homelessness in the seven county Metro Denver area. On January 26, 2015, they counted 6,130 individuals experiencing homelessness as defined by the Housing and Urban Development. Of those counted, 37% were women, 25% were newly homeless, and 49% of "households" were families with children.

Though the number of homeless individuals living in our city is unacceptable, many more are existing one paycheck away from homelessness, struggling to make ends meet as they grapple with decisions such as choosing between buying groceries or paying the utility bills.

As Denver’s only daytime drop-in center for women, their children, and transgender individuals experiencing poverty or homelessness, The Gathering Place provides a variety of programs and services to those who enter our doors.

For Linda, The Gathering Place has been the supportive relationships that helped her obtain permanent shelter. For Yadira, The Gathering Place has been a source of community and essential resources for both her and her children. And for Berda, The Gathering Place offered a chance to obtain a GED and fulfill a lifelong dream.

We invite you to join our community and to partner with us as we endeavor to support the women, children, and transgender individuals in Denver who are experiencing poverty or homelessness. Together, we can make a difference.
