When you support The Gathering Place, you ensure that every woman has a place to go, even when her world is falling apart. The Gathering Place is 93% privately funded, meaning we rely on the involvement and commitment of concerned community members to keep our doors open.
As the only daytime drop-in center for women and children in Denver, The Gathering Place could be the one place where a woman finds the resources that help her rebuild her life. Every day we provide resources and services to approximately 270 women and children. Your gift will directly and immediately make a difference for these individuals.
Ways to Give
For online donations, we have partnered with Colorado Gives, a program of the Community First Foundation. Donating through their secure website is safe and easy. You will be issued a receipt automatically when giving. » Make an online donation through ColoradoGives.org now
Due to some storage challenges and safety concerns, we have made a few changes to our donation acceptance policy. We are only able to accept new, unexpired food; new, unopened toiletries; and new socks and underwear onsite at The Gathering Place. For the Family Area, this means that new, unexpired baby food and formula; new, unopened packages of diapers and wipes; and new, unopened bottles of baby lotion, wash, powder, and diaper rash ointment will be accepted.
Heritage Clearners – clothing
You can donate clothes to The Gathering Place through Heritage Cleaners (locations). However, the clothes must be clean and on hangers, and there is a limit of 20 items per person at a time that can be donated.
Arc Thrift Stores – clothing and household items
You can donate items we are unable to accept—furniture, books, toys, home décor, linens, blankets, sports items, garage items, and more—to arc Thrift Stores on behalf of The Gathering Place. For these donations, arc Thrift Stores will provide vouchers to The Gathering Place to distribute to our members to shop for the specific items they need. Arc can also arrange to pick up your donations. (www.arcthrift.org)
USAgain – any fabric items
Clothing and other fabric items can be deposited in the USAgain bin behind our building. This company reimburses The Gathering Place per pound donated. Those funds are used to purchase new socks and underwear for Bridget’s Boutique. (www.usagain.com)
WORKPLACE GIVING CAMPAIGNS
Does your company participate in a workplace giving program such as Community Shares of Colorado or Mile High United Way? The Gathering Place is a member of Community Shares of Colorado and, through this partnership, we are able to accept payroll deduction donations from hundreds of local employers. These incremental gifts add up to a monumental difference over the course of a year.
The Gathering Place Campaign ID numbers are:
- Community Shares & Partnership for Colorado: #5026
- Rocky Mountain Combined Federal Campaign: #41763
- Mile High United Way: Ask your campaign coordinator for an agency write-in form
Even if your office is not part of Community Shares, you may have access to other workplace giving opportunities. For instance, you can write The Gathering Place in as your choice through the United Way, as well as many other private campaigns. Another great way to supplement your giving through your workplace is to take advantage of matching gift programs. Simply filling out a form can mean doubling or even tripling your impact! Check with your HR office today to learn more.
STOCK, REAL ESTATE, OR OTHER ASSETS
Making a gift of stock, real estate, or other assets that have appreciated in value and that you have owned for more than a year can result in significant tax savings for you. Planned gifts are an excellent way to make a lasting impact on a nonprofit organization. The right planned giving option can also allow you to reduce your estate and income taxes and maximize the financial and tax benefits of your gift. There are numerous ways you can make a planned gift: in your will, from your IRA account, by establishing an endowment, or by leveraging a gift through life insurance. Your gift may be unrestricted or designated and you may make your gift in your own name, or you may memorialize a loved one with your contribution. For more information about planned giving, please ask your estate planner or attorney to contact Emily Bunker Peterson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-996-9061.
If you have a car, truck, van, RV, motorcycle, or boat that you would like to get rid of, consider donating it to The Gathering Place through Vehicles for Charity, a nonprofit organization that will sell your vehicle and return the proceeds to us. VFC will handle all aspects of the donation for you, including pick up and transportation of the vehicle. For more information, contact Vehicles for Charity at email@example.com or 866-628-2277.
