Building Relationships

We believe that strength, determination, and dignity exist within each individual who seeks our services. The women, staff, and volunteers all work together to cultivate a climate that is built on appreciating individual differences. In shaping our community, we use each other’s unique gifts, talents, and strengths to form a bond of respect and friendship.

Our community expectations require that everyone at The Gathering Place remains non-judgmental toward each other's unique circumstances and shows each other mutual respect. Inside our walls, women form a community with other women who often share similar life experiences. As these women build relationships with each other, they begin to share and process their unique experiences, offering each other valuable advice and encouragement while cultivating meaningful and healthy relationships.

The stories we hear from the women we serve help us to better understand the issues and causes of homelessness and poverty. Combining our knowledge with their experiences, we are better able to advocate for positive changes in society.
