Meeting Basic Needs

The Gathering Place is a safe haven for women and children experiencing homelessness or poverty that offers a range of individualized programs and services to meet their basic needs.

A woman cannot concentrate on a search for housing if she is hungry. A woman will not be successful in gaining employment if she has no place to bathe or keep her clothing clean. Our programs and services enable women and mothers to address their families' immediate needs so that they can then focus on the future.

We firmly believe that women who are experiencing homelessness and poverty must be able to meet their immediate and urgent needs before they can call upon and collect their inner resources to make positive life changes for themselves and their children.

Our essential services include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving three nutritious meals per day
  • Providing emergency food, clothing, and hygiene supplies
  • Distributing diapers, formula, and other baby supplies
  • Offering a laundry facility, nap room, showers, and lockers
  • Making temporary and transitional shelter referrals
  • Access to phones, voice mail, mail service, computers, and email
